We had known before before and when he came to us after that very rough experience his confidence was really shattered. The outgoing, confident bird we had known was not presenting. A lot of our work with him is around confidence building. As far as tablet training, his "pressure touch" skills are not consistent - he is very hit or miss (more miss) on tongue touches but the Galaxy tablets recognize a fair number of his beak touches so he is in the game, so to speak.
The thing that really brought "Touch Gallery" up in useability was going back to our color identification and introducing "White" so that "touch white" became a meaningful idea and action.
And now Lou is quite proficient at doing Touch Gallery pictures. He understands "touch white" and although he sometimes gets frustrated trying to get those "last" panels, he generally is quite competent. You can see his satisfaction in doing the task successfully. I'm painting a picture of the "what" is happening but I don't think I'm adequately describing how "big" it is in terms of his confidence and happiness so I'll put it clearly.
This is a really big thing for him.

Georgie is loving the ladybug app. And it's perfect for him because he likes looking at still pictures. Additionally, he can pressure touch, but he does not know how to swipe. It's absolutely perfect!
